Got a phone call from this number this afternoon, (and have it recorded!), stating that they are calling from the Internal Revenue Service, and when I called back, I asked, "the Untied States Internal Revenue Service?", to which he replied, "of course, what other Internal Revenue Service is there". When I told him I had there message on recording, he hung up. This needs to be reoriented to the Federal Authorities for investigation. This is ridiculous.
Just got the call claiming the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me. I was pre-warned by all the publicity we've seen about these disgusting scams and thanks to 800 notes for your postings. This group of foreign individuals, born into a dog-eat-dog world, would take the life savings of a terrified widow while we are bringing her Meals-on-Wheels. If their God is like our God, they are not only blocked on my phone, but on their entry into Nirvana. Please tell your friends and employees about this scam.
Having worked for the IRS Office of a Chief Counsel for 17 years, I can assure you the IRS can not file a law suit against an individual, only the Department of Justice can do so on behalf of the IRS. IRS appears in its own capacity only in Tax Court, and then only as a defendant. This is of course a phishing scam.
