Just got a call from this number. A young man identified the company as the "Auto Processing Department, a nationwide company that oversees service agreements for Subaru" and told me they'd reviewed the records of my vehicle (mentioning both make & year); he then asked for my car's mileage. I refused, saying I didn't know who he or his "company" was...upon which he made a snide remark of "It's not like your Social Security number, I just want to know your mileage." I again refused and asked if his company was directly affiliated with Subaru..he repeated the "Auto Processing Department, a nationwide company" line. I asked him again if they were a direct Subaru affiliate, or if Subaru was just one of many car companies they dealt with. That question was met with silence, so I said "This sounds like a telemarketing call", to which he replied "Well, I guess it is." I then told him I wasn't interested and to permanently remove my phone number and information from the company's list as my number has a "Do Not Call" designation and therefore doesn't accept telemarketing calls. He immediately hung up without a word.
As my phone number is unlisted, I then called my Subaru dealer to find out whether they had sold or shared my info with a third party; they had not, and assured me it was kept confidential. So I don't know how/where this so-called "Auto Processing Department" obtained my private information.
I phoned back the number (360-229-7744) to investigate but got a recorded message with options of [1] being interested in their service agreement, or [2] wanting to be removed from their call list. I was never able to reach a live person to speak with and ask questions of. It certainly has the elements of being a scam and/or a less-than-legitimate "company".
They keep calling my number I don't even own a car. I am not sure why they would call numbers that are on the do not call list but my number went on the that list day it was up and I reput it on there every 14-16 months just to be sure.
Got calls 2 different times for my 2003 Toyota Tacoma, told them the mileage, and went along with the game for a bit. Quoted ridiculous sum for extended warranty. I told them the truck was in great shape and I was going to keep it...She then said....It is not going to get better like a fine bottle of wine!! Yep, that is what she said, and then hung up. They must alias some poor persons phone number, its a shame.
Same here...they had my vehicle description, name on the car, wanted mileage. When I told them that I was not going to provide any info to an incoming telephone call was hung up on. Want to know how they got the info they had.
