Have been receiving multiple calls from this number as well as other numbers including one from a DC area code with the same message about the lawsuit the IRS is filing against me. It's a total scam. I called back and of course, it's a number that has been re-routed from India. You can hear everyone in the background talking - all with Indian accents, but they have very American names which they take off the IRS website. It's annoying as hell.
Thank goodness I found this website. Was everyone's calls on landlines? Mine was. Seems like the only calls I get on my landline now are these kind of scams or marketing spam type things. Everyone else calls on my cell now. Thinking of getting rid of my landline but curious if everyone else's was on their landline or cells. Anywho, mine talked about my "case" too. This is a 2nd number that is trying this. Yes, the IRS will contact by mail if you owe, not these phone calls. Good luck everyone and thanks for letting me see this call for what it is!
Same message as others (IRS is filing a lawsuit against me). PLEASE report these to https://www.treasury.gov under Services/Report Fraud AND ftc.gov/complaint. Really ticks me off when they call my 84-year-old mother and her elderly friends. Criminals. Thank goodness for websites like this one.
