On July 26, 2012, I got a call from this number. It registered on my caller ID as "Financial Ctr." I did not answer the phone. On today's date, August 15, 2012, I received another call from "Financial Ctr." except this time the number was 503-457-1407. I answered this call. The recording said that this is my final courtesy call to lower my credit card rate to 6%; all I need is $3,000 in credit card debt and one card in good standing. It also said they have tried to contact me several times and that this is my final call for my yearly credit card review.
The automated recording did not give a key to press to be removed from their list; It said "Press 1 if you are interested in lowering your credit card debt..." So I pressed 1 and got a woman who said "So i understand you are interested in lowering your credit card payments?" I said, "No, but I understand I want to be removed from your call list." Before I could finish my sentence, she hung up on me!
If you get a call from "Financial Ctr" on your caller ID, DO NOT ANSWER!
I have done this several times already and every time they hang up on me. How am I to get off this list!???
Got one call at 11:30 am yesterday. No message, even a recording,
I recognized the area code and prefix. Received various calls from (360) 474-3XXX (variations on last 3 digits) the past few months. I never picked up since I know it's nobody I want to talk to.
In the past, they would have different Caller ID's, ranging from "Political Opinions of America", "Independent Survey Group", "Affordable Vacci" (should be "Vacations", they can't even spell), and "Power One." Recorded messages have ranged from like the poster above me, about my credit card "not currently in danger" to something about a cruise or vacation shares. Also gotten calls with an apparent Florida area code, and same message about credit cards or surveys, if a recorded message if left. On those the so-called Caller ID just said "Florida." That narrows it down...
From what I read on the other numbers they use, they get around the Do Not Call rules by first claiming they are calling about a political survey. These calls may not even originate from the U.S., which in that case, the Do Not Call list can't be enforced. The phone numbers could be "spoofed" as well. Probably a scam, as some people have posted on all these numbers.
I got a call from them this afternoon. I pressed one to speak to a person. I told her that I have never had any credit card dept in my life and told her to take me off her G-d Damn phone list. She just hung up. Then I called back the number, got a recording saying to press 1 if I wanted them to take me off their phone list. So I pressed 1 and then continued to call them back many times and kept pressing 1 (take me off your list). I hope they get tired of seeing my phone number repeatedly. That's the only way I know to get them annoyed. I will keep calling back and pressing 1.
