On July 26, 2012, I got a call from this number. It registered on my caller ID as "Financial Ctr." I did not answer the phone. On today's date, August 15, 2012, I received another call from "Financial Ctr." except this time the number was 503-457-1407. I answered this call. The recording said that this is my final courtesy call to lower my credit card rate to 6%; all I need is $3,000 in credit card debt and one card in good standing. It also said they have tried to contact me several times and that this is my final call for my yearly credit card review.
The automated recording did not give a key to press to be removed from their list; It said "Press 1 if you are interested in lowering your credit card debt..." So I pressed 1 and got a woman who said "So i understand you are interested in lowering your credit card payments?" I said, "No, but I understand I want to be removed from your call list." Before I could finish my sentence, she hung up on me!
If you get a call from "Financial Ctr" on your caller ID, DO NOT ANSWER!
I have done this several times already and every time they hang up on me. How am I to get off this list!???
Ohhh, I am so sick of this particular scam that I finally pushed "1" and told the total jerk with the Jersey Shore accent that he works for terrible people, and that he should quit and get a different job. He was hysterical at that. I'm glad I could provide him with some amusement. I'm getting a whistle. And seeing if I can block numbers. Good idea.
I'm posting this on facebook, feel free to cut and paste:
This is a PSA regarding "Financial Center" annoying calls. If your caller ID says Financial Ctr, and the number is 1-360-474-3986, do not answer. It is a recording making you feel like you already do business with them. Be sure you're registered with the Do Not Call Registry, ( https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx) and if they call, complain each and every time they call. There are pages and pages of complaints about them online.
I have gotten many calls from this number..financial ctr. Alway says it's the last time and that they have sent numorous letters to my home............they have not. Press 1 to speak to a real person and when I tell them to remove my number they hang up on me. Finally, using my sweetest voice, did have a lady tell me she would manually remove my number but called again. I called the went on line to the DNCL and reported the number. and got the FCC involved. We shall see if that works.
Here is a good solution to your problem. Read this: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/government/google-v ... ur-number/10455
I for the most part followed these instructions. I bought an Ooma (Costco, Amazon etc) and then after porting my previous land line number to Google voice, just forwarded it to my Ooma. You could get Vonage, or Obi or even a new land line number, but as long as your land line number gets moved to Google Voice all these calls will go to the SPAM folder in Google voice and these [***] will never make your phone ring again (unless they get your new number). This solved the problem for me and I kept my old land line number. All these spammers can now kiss my a**. Good luck.
