On July 26, 2012, I got a call from this number. It registered on my caller ID as "Financial Ctr." I did not answer the phone. On today's date, August 15, 2012, I received another call from "Financial Ctr." except this time the number was 503-457-1407. I answered this call. The recording said that this is my final courtesy call to lower my credit card rate to 6%; all I need is $3,000 in credit card debt and one card in good standing. It also said they have tried to contact me several times and that this is my final call for my yearly credit card review.
The automated recording did not give a key to press to be removed from their list; It said "Press 1 if you are interested in lowering your credit card debt..." So I pressed 1 and got a woman who said "So i understand you are interested in lowering your credit card payments?" I said, "No, but I understand I want to be removed from your call list." Before I could finish my sentence, she hung up on me!
If you get a call from "Financial Ctr" on your caller ID, DO NOT ANSWER!
I have done this several times already and every time they hang up on me. How am I to get off this list!???
The recording says it is from Credit card services. I get calls with this blurb several times a month and don't know how to get them stopped. When I press the number to take the name off the list they still call again, always a recording first. So I sometimes press 1 to talk to a real person. I ask them to please not hang up on me and to please take my name off ... "click" they hang up. HELP!
Can SOMETHING please be done about this?? We are on "do not call" and it makes no difference. They are extremely disruptive and I consider this harassment.
Unfortunately about all you can do is file a Do Not Call List complaint with the FTC. If you've never done this before just google FTC Do Not Complaint. I've filed about 100 and don't expect anything, but at least they know there's a problem. You might also contact your congressman and senators about the problem.
These scumbags are not only violating the Do Not Call law but they're also scammers engaged in fraud. The FBI should be after them as they would go after any other form of organized crime. This stuff will continue as long as the govt lets in go on.
The best thing to do when they call again is just hang up. Don't try to talk live or anything. It's likely to just result in more calls. They know they're violating the law but don't care.
I've blocked them before when the last two digits of the calling number were slightly different: 21 instead of 86 today. As another person on here noted, they have a laundry list of numbers to choose from with their robo-dialing software. One small consolation is that at least the next time they call using that number, they won't get through. I don't have a solution other than to just keeping blocking the latest variation until the list of numbers I can block is full, then start over.
