I received a call from Bill with Reed and White associates stating that he was representing Chase bank. He started off by saying " this is a felony and fraud" we are in the process of taking you to court. You owe $1300 from 2013, how can we settle this now? I told him that I do not have $1300. I do know that I do owe Chase bank money, however 1/2 of that amount! As I have made payments. He knew my SS number, previous address as well. I informed him that I would pay $600 as a settlement. Dumb, dumb me! He jumped on that immediately and I paid with my debit card. He then sends me an email from: Amanda Anderson, it was an electronic signature email. I did sign it and it automatically was sent back to them. After further review of the receipt they did send, it had no account number or information regarding chase bank. A matter of fact it said credit card sale. I immediately call chase and they are not associated with them. I then call Bill, asking for his supervisor. He puts me on speaker phone and stated, no I told you it was fraudulent to take a payday loan and deposit the check into your Chase bank and not pay it back. I flipped out! Demanded that they return my money. It got very ugly and they still would not provide any information regarding who I owed. I have since filed a police report and canceled my debit card. After thinking it through, now it all clicks. Bill kept dropping the call, he must have been on a cell phone!
Your credit report is a reflection of your ability to get, manage & pay debt. If you have a debt that has gone to collection it just doesn't get removed because you paid it. It's noted that it was paid, but it's there for 7 - 10 years. If waving a magic wand removes unpaid debt from your credit report, then what purpose does a credit report serve? Anyone who says they can remove things from your report, especially for a fee, is lying. Only an error can be removed & that you can do for free. The forms are available on (Equifax, Transunion) their website. Print. Fill. Mail. Pay NO attention to the Shill behind the curtain!
Just sharing additional information that might save another from getting scammed! I received a call from Ms. Stone on 3/28/2015 after posting on social media, filing a police report and reporting them to the BBB. I also filed a dispute with my credit card company for the money they took from me. Ms. Stone wanted now to send me a paid off letter. She sent two of them, the first had original creditor as "payday loan" the second one had original creditor as "Vista Holdings group". No address, no phone number and no amount owed from the original creditor.
Reed, White and associates should be able to prove validity of a debt prior to actively attempting to collect! I believe their Company is involved with illegal payday loan scams. They should have security in place to protect the public from non-valid collection attempts.
FYI, during the collection attempt, they did inform me that they were representing Chase bank. I am sure they have scammed many and have gotten away with it! Their defense : oh, you must have forgotten about that payday loan or you don't recognize the creditor because they have sold it so many times! Really? No! You are collecting for a non-valid debt that you can't prove or provide a simple phone number for! Now their saying it was for a $300 loan when they originally told me it was for $1300.00.
