I've had a few of these phone calls over the past few months. The voicemail says to call 404-445-2833 about a returned item from my bank lol wut
I definitely had some pretty bad screwups with my credit in my early 20s and I know a payday loan was one of them. However, enough time (well over 7 years since any last derogatory remark) has passed and my real actual credit report is squeaky clean and my FICO is in the mid 700s.
It took me 10 years to fix my credit and in that time I learned everything about collection attempts, both legal and illegal, fraud, my rights and protection.
These guys are either full of crap and its totally a fraud, or they're trying to collect on a debt that they legally cannot collect on anymore. I'm going with the latter.
Most have you have said you've never taken a payday loan out but I know I did and didn't pay it back. I'm sure that's why they're calling.
Finding someone's phone number is a cinch and collection agencies love selling off their debts to the lowest bidder.
Received a pre-recorded message from 770.744.4802 telling me to call this number that they needed to speak to me about a returned item from my bank.
a. The 770 number originates in India b. A legitimate debt collector doesn't leave that type of message c. I have ahd previous calls from Reed White and Associates (if this is who the number is 404.445.2833) and they do not conduct business the way a normal debt collector should. In addition, they have tried to collect on debts that are no longer valid and I have received several calls out of the New York area but asking me to FAX proof of my debt repayment to Reed White and Associates. If I were any of you, I would call every govt agency you can including those in the state of Georgia and have them start following the money. There business practices are not in line with the law and are not ethical. They are just trying to get money.
Received a message on my cellphone that I had a returned item from my bank. I was told to call this number to discuss. However I have not had anything returned so I won't be calling. Suspect this is nothing but a scam so I'll report it and block the number. No idea who this is since no name was left.
Recorded message(female voice) left on my cellphone claiming I had a returned check and needed to call back at (404) 445-2833. Did not identify herself so I wil not be calling back. Besides I have no return items from my bank since I constantly check my account. Obviously this is a scam so I will be filing a complaint with the FTC and blocking the number.
I too got a message on phone that a check was returned by my bank. I know better.....NOT!!! I will have fun calling repeatedly and eating up their phone lines just because "what goes around, comes around".
