Called my cell phone, but they didn't leave a message. I closed all of my credit card accounts about a year ago, so it's definitely a scam since most of the comments say it's about lowering interest rates.
It's spam. I just got this call too. They can find bank numbers (such as the first two digits) in many ways -- ALWAYS hang up, then call your back directly, using the number on the back of your card.
Scam. Pose as a legit credit card company (uses the automated female voice) - says you have a pressing deadline today to give them your credit card information to reduce your debt. Too bad I have none so it's a scam for sure.
It's common knowledge among banks and the public that each bank is identified through "I believe" the first 4 digits of any account, of course according to the area you live in. I'm pretty sure if you look at your credit cards and other peoples banking statements you'll notice a pattern. From what your telling me it looks like at least the first two digits can identify each bank that has the account, weather it be a credit card or savings or checking… I might not have this info totally correct, but the point here is its common knowledge among people in the banking industries so don't be fooled by scammers who also can get this info. Banks will never cold call you for personal info.
