Called my cell phone, but they didn't leave a message. I closed all of my credit card accounts about a year ago, so it's definitely a scam since most of the comments say it's about lowering interest rates.
Didn't answer - I always check the number at the time of the call on the Internet (or as soon as possible) to attempt to verify its origins. Thankfully, with my mobile, I can immediately block and ban these nuisances (AT&T land lines limit you to a blocking of only six phone numbers, unfortunately).
I guess suckers really are born every minute for anyone who would fall for these calls and their scams.
I've heard some people deal with them by taking the call - and when they start speaking, blasting a personal alarm in their ear. Maybe if enough of them go deaf because of their loser profession, they will attempt to find legitimate means of employment.
Another fun way to deal with them...
* start asking for THEIR personal information
* tell them you work for the IRS and you need their Tax ID number for their business in order to speak with them further
* have something scripted out at the time you receive the call and read it in such a way that they believe they've called an automated recording: "Hello - you've reached the Midwestern division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.........." That's as much as you need to say - they will have hung up, blocked and banned YOUR NUMBER at that point.
I have a new cell phone number and have started receiving phone calls from this # 404-597-6536. I don't know this number and I didn't answer. They didn't leave a message either. I should not be getting calls from this number.
