Yes, this turned out to be legitimate, but a very unprofessional way to do business. My situation is a purported $21 balance left after insurance paid Piedmont Radiology for a mammogram and bone density over a year ago. I thought all was paid, so rep on other line of 404-634-9196 said they would send me a statement and I'll go through my records. I can't believe Piedmont Hospital / Radiology Associates of Atlanta would use such a sketchy billing service. The entire process felt like a scam phone call. Will report later if not legitimate.
Rec'd call at 2:12 today, haven't called them back, but if they are affiliated with Gwinnett Medical Hospital for which I also work they are not conducting business appropriately judging by the earlier entries.
Rec'd same call. Checked a bill I have from N. Metropolitan Radiology (had an x-ray at Joan Glancy Medical Center) and on the bill is the same number to call. It also give a hot line number of 404-634-9091. Also found this info when I Googled the number: MEDICAL BUSINESS SERVICE INC is in the Accounting, Auditing, and Bookkeeping Services industry in ATLANTA, GA.
Looks legit but just annoying to receive a call.
This is a legit office. This company does the radiology billing for various hospitals in the Metro Atlanta area, and possibly others. When you go to a hospital and have certain services, the hospital may not necessarily bill for those services, as most hospitals are not for profit, so they contract many of their physicians, i.e. radiologists (in this case), emergency room physicians, anesthesiologists, etc. When you go to a hospital for an emergency situation or a routine service, make sure you ask their billing department if they have outside contractors that do billing as very few hospitals will advise you of this, and you end up getting 2, 3 or more bills in the mail.
I got the call today. I sent back the payment coupon last week with a credit card number on it, so I'm assuming they're calling for the Magic Number or something.
She slurs over "your doctor's office", does her spiel about calling them back and then...I can't understand a damn thing she's saying! Oh. Never mind. It's en Espanol.
