Yes, this turned out to be legitimate, but a very unprofessional way to do business. My situation is a purported $21 balance left after insurance paid Piedmont Radiology for a mammogram and bone density over a year ago. I thought all was paid, so rep on other line of 404-634-9196 said they would send me a statement and I'll go through my records. I can't believe Piedmont Hospital / Radiology Associates of Atlanta would use such a sketchy billing service. The entire process felt like a scam phone call. Will report later if not legitimate.
Today -- December 29, 2009 -- I received a call on my cell phone from 405-308-4474. The voicemail message said to please call your doctor's billing office regarding a recent correspondence and said to call 404-634-9196 -- they repeated the number again 404-634-9196. I did not call the number but googled the number instead.
These guys are legit. I just called GMC and asked about my MRI bill (cause had been fighting insurance w/ this) and they said to call the Radiology center at 4046349196. So without me saying anything about the number they gave me the same number. I'm on hold now with the Radiology billing center (that number).

I spoke to a person at this number. I gave her no info other than my last name (which is unique). She was able to tell me the date, type of procedure I had done, and the amount of the outstanding balance (which was all accurate). Seemed legit to me.
