Just got off the phone after talking to both the first operator and a "senior supervisor".. it's "Card Services" that does "all the billing for all visa/mastercards", and will lower all your cards interest rates if you let them only have not only the expiration dates of all your cards, and the type of card. Then of course, they ask you to verify the numbers as well, by you telling them what they are.. They did know both my name and address, which was a bit disconcerting, but isn't hard to do with a little bit of digging. What sort of idiot gives out their CC numbers over the phone to a complete stranger on an unsolicited phone call.. they also claimed to have sent a mailing from them a month ago and this was a courtesy call. When I laughingly declined.. she said "Fine.. Enjoy your rates".
What I do with this credit card scam is press 1 and wait for 'Jennifer' to answer. I have a metal whistle which I then blow loudly into the phone. Enough said?
