I just got one of these calls today. Same story about a free nights stay at a Hilton in Manhattan or Orlando. I WORK for Hilton but have no idea what this call is about. Dont trust it. I am reporting it to Hilton today.
They have been calling tnis number for months - always got my answering machine until today. They are asking Hilton Honors Members to pre-purchase a stay in either Las Vegas or Orland at prices well below anything you can find on the web. In return, they want you to give them 2 hrs. of your time so that they can showcase their brand new property. They are counting on my word of mouth advertising to get others to go there and stay at these resorts. I was quoted pricing for both locations and was asked for a credit card number to lock in the rates. When I asked if I could lock in both rates and choose where I wanted to go later, a gentleman suddenly appeared on the line and started asking me the same questions all over again. I told him I had all the info I needed and all he needed to to do was to confirm that I could lock in both. When I told him the other person had already given me the rates, he said he was going to give me even better rates. He became very aggressive and almost argumentative when I told him I would not be doing anything today. I told him I was losing interest - and he started shouting at me. So I hung up on him. He called me right back and asked me why I had such an attitude. I told him to take my name of his call list and he started arguing some more so I hung up again. Then I called the Hilton and they told me the properties are over 5 years old. I then googled this phone number and found this website reporting basically similar conduct and experience.
