I have received half a dozen calls from "Beth" at this number looking for a real estate agent that sells homes in [my] area. I was immediately suspicious due to the area code being far from here, but by the third voicemail I realized that she is using the exact same script on each call - definitely sketchy. I finally set my phone to reject her future calls. It must really stick to have her job...
Called twice now in 2 days, selling "advertising space" on fridge magnets that the fire departments are supposedly giving out with emergency contact info on it. Wants to sell a FIVE year ad deal for around $700. This is about the same as the city maps or phone book covers I always would get calls about. They may be legit but are usually a total waste of money and usually never get circulated to enough people to even matter. Not saying it's a scam, but definitely BUYER BEWARE. Salesman "Omar" was pretty pushy with me and didn't take "i'm not interested" a few times as an acceptable answer so I finally hung up.
I just got the same call in the Milton, Ontario, Canada. Trying to sell me the same space on the fridge magnets. The caller id on my phone showed the call was coming in from Florida, USA so I found it hard to believe that they were working in conjunction with the local fire department. A call to the local fire hall confirmed they have no knowledge of this and it is a scam. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE MONEY
I'm sick of these calls. The calls themselves are bad enough, but when "Amanda" was told no for the third time.....really? 3 times? Claimed she was selling magnets for the Fire Department. When asked for her business name all she would answer was that she was "with the county".
salesman claimed to be working with local fire department (why 407 area code then?) and offering a "unique business opportunity" for a fire restoration contractor. he told me we were 2nd on his list of 5 companies to call (then why don't you know the name of the person you want to speak with?). when i said no thanks, he asked if i had any other company to refer to him. i thought you had a list of 5 companies, sir? besides, i can hear the noise in the background and i know you're at a call center. i'm not stupid.
