This guy is still around (maybe 2 of them). Got a call Friday 4/6/12 from (what he said) was Windows Technical Support then changed it later to Windows Technical support "partner". Same old stuff - computer infected with viruses. "could have infected all 3 computers that were turned on" etc., gave 2 phone numbers if I needed to call back: 1-408-786-5612 and Toll free @855-730-3380. When I called back, no answer, but did have a returned call from the ...5612 to see if I had called with trouble on my computer.
My son frowned on my gullibility (yes, I did know better, was taken off guard) and suggested I "wipe" my computer. I chose to do a Recovery to an earlier date - hope I don't regret it.

Connected with the FBI, Federal Communications and a few other agencies all rolled into one. Just log in an you'll see the form to report different types of internet crimes.
Got same call from 408-786-5612, MS Help & Support / Windows Error Reporting. First person on the phone was Christopher, very strong Indian accent: yaadi yaadi ya. Location? FL?! (NOT) I ask pertinent questions to qualify such and he kept coming back to "is your computer on... if you open it up, I can show you ALL the virus, trojans, malware that is causing all of these error reports to be reported to us here at MS and this repair service is free....." He handed off to another guy, who spoke much better English trying the same thing only 'explaining it in logical, tech support-type form...
Of course, i did NOT give out ANY info and shut em down.

Claims to be from Windows Support. Heavy Indian accent said his name was Alex Mathew. Gave the phone number as 4087-86-5612. Said he was getting reports of a virus on my computer. Wanted me to turn on my computer and connect to the internet. When I asked why Microsoft did not have an 800 number, he hung up.
Yes, got a call from "Window Support". I asked for his telephone number and it was the 408-786-5612. Called him back, same guy answered and I told him I had a Mac. End of conversation. Heavy accent and I asked for someone who spoke better English. Agree - what a jerk!
