This guy is still around (maybe 2 of them). Got a call Friday 4/6/12 from (what he said) was Windows Technical Support then changed it later to Windows Technical support "partner". Same old stuff - computer infected with viruses. "could have infected all 3 computers that were turned on" etc., gave 2 phone numbers if I needed to call back: 1-408-786-5612 and Toll free @855-730-3380. When I called back, no answer, but did have a returned call from the ...5612 to see if I had called with trouble on my computer.
My son frowned on my gullibility (yes, I did know better, was taken off guard) and suggested I "wipe" my computer. I chose to do a Recovery to an earlier date - hope I don't regret it.
I also received the same call from this idiotic east indian, calls himself John Green. He said my computer is leaking information to hackers due to a virus. I asked him how do I know that he is not the hacker? He proceeded to give a lame reply saying simply that he wasn't the hacker and that I should trust him. I told him that I would like to call him back and he gave me this phone number, which I then googled and read these posts.
I received a call tonight from "Roger" who wanted me to "turn on my computer and follow his instructions". He said my computer had been sending messages to Windows and it had developed a trojan virus....?
When I asked too many questions, he hung up.

Just got a call from man w/heavy East Indian accent named William. I asked him a lot of questions upfront and then asked to speak to his supervisor, who did come on. I asked him more questions including where he was calling from (Wilmington, DE is what he reported, and this is a CA area code).
I asked how he knew what was in my computer, and how he knew it was MY computer. Of course I got a gobbledy-gook run-around. Finally I said, can you tell by looking in my computer that I use a Mac, and not Windows? Dead silence. I asked if he could help me with my Mac; he stuttered and said no, he couldn't. Then he wanted to get off the phone and I said wait, wait, wait; remove my name/number from your data bases and do not call here again. I am on the national and state do-not-call list. He assured me he would do so.
We'll see.
I'm not sure whom to report this scam to - any suggestions?
I just got this same call but my caller ID showed Unknown Number like an overseas call. The caller, a guy with an East Indian accent, gave me the "he is with Microsoft and my Windows system has a problem" story. I said, no thank you and I asked for his number, which he gave as 480-786-5612.

wille jones just called my wife and told her that her computer was about to crash and he would need her to turn off her anti virus protection for him to repair it. she calls me and 3-ways the call, and the guy is cool as can be even though i make no bones about thinking he is a scam artist. I call the number from another phone and get "the person you are trying to reach is unavailable" yet he works for Windows. told my wife to hang up on the crook.
