my mother received the same message from "Revenue Canada" and called to answer to a "mr. adam spencer" (his assistants are "ray" and "anna"). he told my mom to send a money order of 7500 dollars through walmart or a western union (which is very sketchy) or she would be arrested. he told her not to tell anyone, and if the bank asks why you need the money to say its a family emergency. it seems that their new number is 1(343) 885 7631(which is the ottawa area code). they are very convincing and will even give you id numbers, rankings, and an office location. we went to the police and there have even been reports of these people threatening to deport immigrants (who dont know any better) if they dont pay right away. i hope this helps.
Got same call as folks above. I called back n told him to remove me from his list. He got upset and said he will call me everyday. Then with his weenie voice started laughing when I told him he better not. I hung up and then started calling him repeatedly cursing at him. I say everyone do this n just mess with him as much as possible. [***] that little weenie dumbass.
People who have lives know better than to waste time calling people who are unreachable (spoofed numbers; calling from overseas call centers in basements somewhere) so don't expect a lot of people to take your ill-advised suggestion. Better to write it off; ignore future calls, and be glad you didn't fall for the scam.
A guy named Fran Howard, he said, called threatening me and saying he was form the Criminal Bureau. He said I had legal allegations from CRA and that CRA was filing a lawsuit for me. Shocking! He had a sort of Indian accent. He said I had to pay an amount of money today and if not I was going to be arrested today and imprisoned for 5 years and lose properties and assets. He said that the offense was from the improper and fraudulent filing of taxes in the last 5 years as a result of CRA audit. It was frightening. He called again and said I had to go to a Sobey's store with the money and he would guide me to do a pay tax voucher under his guidance. it is certainly a scam as CRA is a very serious organization and would ever treat Canadians like this without proper notification. I will notify the police right away and CRA as well.
I've received two recorded calls from this number recently. Checked this number out and fortunately found your page, although I had heard of this Canada Revenue Agency scam floating around Canada for some time now.
I'll be contacting the Royal Can. Mounted Police to see if they can take this scum criminal down ASAP!
