my mother received the same message from "Revenue Canada" and called to answer to a "mr. adam spencer" (his assistants are "ray" and "anna"). he told my mom to send a money order of 7500 dollars through walmart or a western union (which is very sketchy) or she would be arrested. he told her not to tell anyone, and if the bank asks why you need the money to say its a family emergency. it seems that their new number is 1(343) 885 7631(which is the ottawa area code). they are very convincing and will even give you id numbers, rankings, and an office location. we went to the police and there have even been reports of these people threatening to deport immigrants (who dont know any better) if they dont pay right away. i hope this helps.
Received five recorded messages within two days from 415-234-0459. It's a woman's voice claiming to be from Revenue Canada and must call back otherwise charges will be laid against me. I replayed the message several times as it's not very clear and hard to understand. I called this number and a guy with an Indian accent answered but there was also someone else on the line. I asked him who he was and what he wants and he hung up on me. I now realize this is a scam as so many people received same messages from this number. Imagine Revenue Canada calling from California. I hope these guys are caught as they are clearly trying to scam people.
Got this same message but from a text to land line call. Said that if I didn't respond that illegal allegations would be taken against me. Received two calls in less than 10 mins. Some folks are truly evil. Wow.
Received a call this morning saying I was being sued by the CRA and started asking me about whether I had a criminal lawyer. I laughed... He then started asking a few questions...and then I decided to ask him some questions...of which if they were the CRA they should have been able to answer...and they couldn't. Idiots
I also received two calls from that number within 10 mins of each other. However, for me it was a woman with a heavy accent also telling me she was from the Canada Revenue Agency, not to ignore or delete the message and that I had to call her back asap before any legal actions would be taken. The whole message was sounding like an automated recorded message.
got the canada revenue call about 10 mins.ago. Woman repeated her number,said I must return call as legal proceedings would be coming my way. I do know that Canada Rev.Ag. does not call taxpayers demanding call back or threats, if a taxpayer owes money,they will send a letter with pertinent info. One would think these STUPID people would themselves, get a regular job & give up scaming people, I hope one day justice will prevail & they themselves will be locked up & throw away the key.
