RS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and all contacts are initiated by US mail.
I got the same message. I tried to return the call, and got a busy signal several times before I finally got through. The guy on the phone was a complete jack ___, very rude, & unprofessional. He asked for a reference number. I told him that I do not have one. He asked why I didn't have one. I told him that there was no reference number in the recording. He asked for my phone number, to which I gave him, and he asked for another person's name that no longer has this number. I informed him that he not only has the wrong phone number, but also is calling a number registered on the do not call list with the FCC. He laughed, and then said I was going to be arrested. I challenged him, and repeated that he has the wrong number. He then repeated the person's name and her address. Which I told him he has the wrong address, but I did not give him mine. I asked to speak to his supervisor. He put me on hold for about a minute, came back on the line, and tried to pretend to be a different person. I told him I'm not stupid, and if they call again, they will be reported. He laughed again and said local sheriff deputies will be coming to my address to arrest me. I told him to bring it on, and then hung up on him. Yeah, definitely a scam!
I believe this is a scam. He called and read me an affidavit he said he had there is one against my name. I let him read it to me saying I miss calculated the information on my taxes. Then when I called him back he said something about I will be arrested and I will owe up to $18,000 in legal fees once this is over plus 6,000 in back taxes. Which I know is not true. He was very rude and ended up hanging up on me again when I insisted he informs me how they calculated those numbers. He said his name is "Frank" and if he reads this he should be ashamed of himself! I feel sorry for his kids if they exist and I pray he never has any. SCAM!!
Got called twice in about 10 minutes from them. Same message as others.
