Received call from David Green with very heavy Indian accent - could hardly understand the message. Something about Income Tax evasion. Got a similar call two days earlier 415 251-9114 from Gary Jones special agent crime investigation.
someone claimed from IRS and asked for my mom, took down the message, call back number is 415-251-9114, case # 706-xx0 and asking for Sean Harvey. I called back few minutes later, voice mail. (all strong Indian accent English)

Lose your curiosity! The fact that so many people bother to call these scum back is a major reason why people in general get so many unwanted calls! Not just you, by the way, but the whole country. It encourages these low-lifes to keep calling and make up scams where they can count on enough people being stupid enough to call back unknown numbers that don't leave messages. And it gets you on a list of easy marks to call back.
Even if you convince him that he can't fool you, he's probably calling on a spoofed or a VoIP number, and is beyond the reach of US law enforcement in a country from which it is not against the law to call, annoy, and scam stupid Americans. And he may get a case of phone rage just like yours.
I got a call from this number twice today. Both calls were within 30 minutes of each other, yet he left the exact same minute-long message. He claimed that there was an insufficiency with my income tax return, and that I needed to call him back before legal action would be taken. My phone shows that the number is from the San Francisco/North Bay Area. I DO NOT plan on returning this call, and I suggest that you do the same!
Yes, I got the same call, too. Thick Indian accent, but he said his name was "Brian Smith" and for me to call back "Michael Carter." He gave me a 6-digit case number 706xxx to sound legit. I said I'd leave a message and call back, got a very unlike IRS voice mail that was full and couldn't accept messages (not that I would leave one).
