I work for a major hospital as an admin in the IT department. I get tons of calls from companies like this. The person who called had a heavy accent and the connection was bad. She asked for someone who no longer worked there, then asked for three people in other departments, then tried to get me to connect her with our IT manager. When I asked her for HER information, she backpeddled and said she would call back later. I have learned to keep a running log of all calls. I just look at the caller ID and don't answer if the number is on my "persistant vendor / spam" log.
IT Brief, a company I had never heard of, called my work a few days ago. They asked to verify my work contact information in order to send me a few free whitepapers. I was reluctant, but followed through with the call. It turned out to be some information on mobile device management that could help us down the road, and so far I haven't gotten any additional spam either which was a huge relief.
Here's the thing. You got a call, took the product, happy with the product - so - why search the number on the internet (after the fact) and post a positive revue? As you are the first poster on this number, an internet search would NOT have lead you here. At this point we can't say this is a preemptive Shill, setting this number up for later action. For that reason we'll mark this post as "suspect".
A guy called and said he was from a company called "xactly". He gave the name of one of our regional sales people. But the problem is he is regional - meaning he is not here in the office. I kept trying to ask him what his call was about, but he would never give me a straight answer. Eventually I just called the sales admin to take the call and he hung up before I could transfer it to her. He is just a waste of time because I searched the company and they are trying to sell something to him. Why would he want to call a regional sales person about signing the company up for their services? He is just wasting everyone's time.
Have received 5 missed calls from this number in the past couple of days, answered 2 times, each time I answered the guy was not easy to understand, asked to speak with a particular name, of which I told them there is no such person. Same guy called back next day or day after, and asked for same name, again I advised not here and already told them that once before. Let's see if they call again. Sounds like an annoying sales call.
Got a call on my cell from this number on Nov 13. Note that my cell phone number is in my email signature for work emails as a software architect. So getting a tech spam call on my cell would not be surprising.
They hung up when I answered, or else the call was somehow dropped.
I did not even hear a voice.
