I work for a major hospital as an admin in the IT department. I get tons of calls from companies like this. The person who called had a heavy accent and the connection was bad. She asked for someone who no longer worked there, then asked for three people in other departments, then tried to get me to connect her with our IT manager. When I asked her for HER information, she backpeddled and said she would call back later. I have learned to keep a running log of all calls. I just look at the caller ID and don't answer if the number is on my "persistant vendor / spam" log.
I received one of these cold calls, well my first call was just a regular guy looking for assistance, because he told me that he wanted to know about the current address of our company. I told him the correct one, eventually he continued to ask about my company role and email address if he still had the accurate information. I started to wonder about it but I let him continue. Their phone line is quite poor, that every word he says muffled and I started to laugh at the end of the call because he started talking so fast that I couldn't even understand what he says. I only understood "OK"? then i just said okay. I wonder what information he will be sending to me? I'd better check my email later.
I just received these whitepapers in my working email and I read those guides and my point is, it takes time to read these guides. Which helped me a lot about IT matters as I took those useful information recently. Its just a matter of accepting positively and justly not judgmental nor ignorant. I think you're not really a professional in the way you act on your job. Good luck
