I work for a major hospital as an admin in the IT department. I get tons of calls from companies like this. The person who called had a heavy accent and the connection was bad. She asked for someone who no longer worked there, then asked for three people in other departments, then tried to get me to connect her with our IT manager. When I asked her for HER information, she backpeddled and said she would call back later. I have learned to keep a running log of all calls. I just look at the caller ID and don't answer if the number is on my "persistant vendor / spam" log.
I've been getting harrassed by these people non-stop for the last 6 months. They will continue to call me until I pick up the phone. I've been on conference calls and had them call me at least 7 times in a row with no break between. I can't understand their accents or anything they're saying. I've repeatedly asked them to stop calling me and they refuse, they've told me the calling is automatic and cannot be stopped so too bad. I've asked to speak with a manager and they just hang up. This is really unprofessional. I will not give them any more information. I'm not sure what else to do with them. Has anyone who has received their email been able to verify the company they are with?
Have had two calls in two days from this number but each time there is no one on the other end of the line. I called the number and got a message: "This number is unassigned". It was NOT the voice of anyone from the phone company. I don't think it's spoofed and obviously they've never requested any information, but it is still a major annoyance. I wonder why the *#@%! phone company won't allow us to selectively block calls. I mean for God's sake, they give up our private information to any government agency that requests it, issue phone numbers to chronic nefarious telemarketers and anyone else who can pay a bill, so why don't they do something for those of us who keep them in business. It's frustrating as hell and something needs to be done.
Thanx Jon for your post. I had a guy call me from here today asking the same thing - I told him I wasn't the IT Manager and he said "do you even know what an IT Manager is?" so I just hung up on him!!! LOL
Yep, IT Brief. The barely intelligible woman had the nerve to transfer to my mobile phone. It's amazing how quickly these calls end when you remind them of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991.
