I work for a major hospital as an admin in the IT department. I get tons of calls from companies like this. The person who called had a heavy accent and the connection was bad. She asked for someone who no longer worked there, then asked for three people in other departments, then tried to get me to connect her with our IT manager. When I asked her for HER information, she backpeddled and said she would call back later. I have learned to keep a running log of all calls. I just look at the caller ID and don't answer if the number is on my "persistant vendor / spam" log.
I found Katie L's post helpful. I got called by this number, I answered it, but the agent's accent was so heavy, and her connection so bad that I couldn't understand who she was or why she was calling. It sounded like they were saying "Why Peepers". The agent tried to spell it twice but the connection kept dropping so I only got every 3rd letter. I hung up with them and googled the number and found Katie's post. It cleared up my confusion - the agent was trying to spell "White Papers". Now I know that I can ignore their calls from now on. So that's why a positive review is not a waste of time.
Called today and asked to speak to our "IT Manager". I told him "no" and hung up. If you were a company we worked with, you would know who runs our IT section.
