I work for a major hospital as an admin in the IT department. I get tons of calls from companies like this. The person who called had a heavy accent and the connection was bad. She asked for someone who no longer worked there, then asked for three people in other departments, then tried to get me to connect her with our IT manager. When I asked her for HER information, she backpeddled and said she would call back later. I have learned to keep a running log of all calls. I just look at the caller ID and don't answer if the number is on my "persistant vendor / spam" log.
Female with accent calls asking for IT manager. Heard my voice echoing over the conenction. Like another post, if our company is doing business with yours, you will know who our IT guy is. I asked her name and she said: "Nancy....Nancy Smith" (right, Nancy!! Good, generic name there) I had to ask her twice what company she was calling from---"IT Brief" (?) I said no thank you and goodbye and hung up.
I just got a call from these guys trying to speak to my "IT Manager." Nevermind the fact that I work for the 6th largest MSO in the US. Our IT only deals with internal issues. He called the number for a small company we bought and I now support. This guy just did not get that we're not buying anything and if we were we'd call them.
Called company twice within 2 minutes. First guy had outdated IT information and insisted he was not a solicitor than immediately hung up. Second guy had a name of someone not in IT. Explained to him about the first guy and he apologized and hung up.
Received call from: 303-415-6358 today, in the past they have used: 415-299-6350; 415-366-5756. The company is IT Brief.
The person calling generally is an Indian man with heavy accent. A woman calling herself Lindsey Smith calls. They usually as for persons who have worked in our IT and are no longer with us. Also, use LinkedIn for current names.
Definitely a Telemarketing Company.
I have asked them not to call and so have several of my current IT employees; all to no avail. They continue to call and wait on hold due to that fact. NO ONE in my IT Dept. wishes to chat with them.
"IT Brief" - If you get the call from them just hang up quickly. And to the poster who stated "how quick they hang up when you mention Protection Act", give me a break. None of the robo-callers/telemarketers/sleaze bags could care less about the Protection Act. Why do you think the FBI/FTC/FCC are willing to pay anyone $50,000 to help them stop these? Because they cannot stop them and the scumbags know it and are not afraid...of anything.
