Two automated messages left on answering machine on 10/16/2014 from someone claiming to be with IRS. The messages were identical and the caller's name was "Officer Julie Smith with the IRS" stating that "the issue at hand is really time sensitive" and "Don't disregard this message and do return the call before we take any legal allegations against you. Good bye and take care." The number was 415-506-1286 from Novato, CA. This is a scam. According to the IRS website, if IRS needs to contact an individual, it will be in letter form through the US Mail. I filed a complaint with the FCC. According to FCC's website, there are multiple scams from scammers purporting to be with IRS.
I got the call today at 9 am eastern time, from San Francisco. I called back, as I do have an IRS case pending, but nothing to serious. I called back and was told my property would be seized, and bank accounts, and credit cards put on hold. When I fired back at this "Agent" who wasn't Julie Smith, and who could barely speak English, I was hung up on. I immediately called back and was told that I need not interrupt until He was through. After He was through, I told Him He had the wrong person, My case wasn't even close to what He was talking about, plus I am dealing with My local IRS and H R Block. Hung up on a second time, I called back, and was told the local Sheriffs had been notified to arrest Me on Felony charges, and He wanted to verify My address, which was an address I haven't resided at in over 4 Yrs. Again I went off on this M F and was hung up on. I didn't call back. I was due in to work, I raced to the bank and with drawled 3/4 of my savings, and went to work. The people at the bank thought I was crazy, it took 3 tellers to put my money together, in cash. Anyway, I got to work, told a co worker my dilemma. He had sense enough to google the #, He sensed a scam, and here I am relating My story.
I called this scam number back as well and decided to imitate an IRS agent and asking for there name and badge number, got a hang up, Hey I had some spare time so I called back and turned on a recording of a busy office and sirens and told them that we had them surrounded and that they should not make any sudden moves when exiting their building as snipers are poised in the nearby sectors. I don't think they understood me. and hung up
Told them their IP was traced and that they would all be deported when caught. they hung up again,
so now I just keep calling ordering a Pizza for delivery.
Idiots....
