Receive many phone calls from 1-417-800-2511 asking for Japanese male 18 or above to participate in a studies. My number is unlisted and registered with the 'do-not-call' list. The rep on the phone was unable to clarify how they get my number.
May I chime in on this. Cold calling is not Telemarketing until they try to sell you something. Robo calling to landlines is not illegal in all states, but Robo calling to cell phones are. When you press 1, you are establishing a business relationship because you are then asking to speak to a representative of that company. Once you do that, they can then start offering you products or services. Yes indeed, the representative will then try to SELL you a service, because you asked to speak to him when you pressed the 1. And that is how it works.
If the callers are too stupid to understand that one does not want to be bothered, period, I guess they can waste all the time they want. I will continue to do what I have always done, don't answer.
BTW robo calls are illegal in my state. That applies to all!
I have been reading this entire thread. As I see it, Apparently you are not too smart if you can't figure out what is being said and how to apply the logic behind it. It is not his claims that you are disagreeing with, but that of the FTC.
