answered this one today (it has called before). male knew my last name. when I asked who he was, he hung up. using caller id, I called number and a recorded message referred me to www.securestech.net (or at least this is what it sounded like). there is no where on thi swebsite to complain about calls. the site is connected to correctional facilities. baffling and annoying.
Received this call on my landline this morning at 9am. Did not answer as it only showed "out of area". The telemarketers and scammers can locate anyone's phone number with software that automatically dials the numbers for them and when someone answers it kicks over to a live operator - hence the pregnant pause when you answer.Generally speaking, at that time your name will pop up on their screen. Even if I answer the phone, if someone doesn't speak immediately - I hang up. This really should be illegal, if it isn't already. But I know it sure is maddening. If a particular number continues to persist, I keep a record of it and after a while I will eventually get on the phone to tell them to remove me from whatever list I am on. Who knows if it ever works. These places can change phone numbers and bounce off so many servers and phone banks it will make anyone's head spin....so you really never know who is calling you, unless you recognize the number.
Was able to return call to this number. Got an automated message that my call was from a correctional facility supported by secureustech.net. The website is supposed to be a way to put money into prisoner accounts for phone calls. I tried the customer support number and got an automated recording with no option to speak to a live operator. After I pushed different numbers trying to get to a person, the call hung up on me. Scam. Maybe they won't call back.
just received a call from 423-328-1807. Called ID said "Tennessee call". I answered, but no one said anything and they hung up within a few seconds. This after I just reported other bogus calls to donotcall.org the other day.
Just received a call 423-328-1807. True caller identification shows "Robot Money" What's that tell you? Location Johnson City, Tenn. More scammers, Panasonic now blocks this call
By answering or calling back you probably confirmed your number was a good one and you might be a soft touch for a scam. That's probably why they called back.
