Male with heavy accent called me this morning saying he was from Microsoft and needed to help me with my computer because I have a virus so I told him I'm not interested and hung up. Couple of hours later he calls back and tells me its urgent that I get to my computer so he can assist me, I asked how he got my information and he wouldn't answer however he does have my number, first and last name so I asked him for the company's number that I will call them back to help me because I can't confirm who he was and I would not be giving him any information until I get the number to call the company myself and he kept saying its urgent and he needs to help me so I told him if its that urgent why is he wasting time and not giving me the number I needed to call and get the help supposedly I needed and he disconnected on and hasn't called since.... be aware people and don't give out your information...
I didn't answer because they weren't a part of my personal call list. I googled the number and found everybody's comments. I called the number back. It's a disconnected #. They spoofed me using a disconnected # for the caller I.D. --- If you don't know what spoof is then google it. You'll find out.
Got a call from this # 469-286-9841, an man with an Asian accent told me he was notified there were viruses on my computer. I said "really, how would you know, are you on my network, how did you get this phone number and how do you know it goes with the computer you think has viruses?" He said he just knew and if I would listen he would tell me the plan to fix my problem. I said" are you kidding me? I have so much screening on my computer I cannot even look at the local newspaper with setting it off. He said, ok then to start you need to shut down your warning system and the firewall. I said" ok, tell me your name and address and company so I can contact the NYSAG and report you as a terrorist." He hung up.
