When I get any calls I dont want, I just get them to pick up the call and say * This is the phoenix police Dept * or pick any police dept and say how may I help you. It tends to scare them off from calling again. Makes me feel better any ways LOL
We are on the Do Not Call list and still have received 16 calls from 501/321-4569. They requested credit card information, when I tried to talk to them they hung up. The Hot Springs Police referred me to the Arkansas Attorney General who told me the number was probably "spoofed". "Spoffing" means a fake number that is given that is not the callers. The Arkansas Attorney General welcomes all calls referencing this scammer. The Attorney General's number is 1-800-482-8982. Good Luck!
Just recd a call from this # 5 minutes ago. No message left on V/M, which is what I ALWAYS let happen if I'm within answering distance, when I don't recognize the incoming #. If the caller doesn't leave a msg, guess what?? I'm not going to call back to find out what scam they are running!!!
I tried calling the number back after I reported them to the Do Not Call Registry, and received a message that the number was disconnected. Can't be disconnected when they just called me 5 min ago from that number.
I always report these things to the DO Not Call Registry and the FTC & FCC, because they are not following the rules of being forth coming about the company name, intent, and are quite misleading making it sound like they are an existing company in which we do business. If you take the time to read about the laws on the FTC and FCC websites it is clear they are breaking many. Report them.
