Caller ID just had a series of numbers part of which was date & time of call.
Man with Indian accent, who had my name, said he was calling about medical compensation and then asked if I had had hip replacement surgery. When I refused to give information without more explanation about the reason for the call, he said if I or any relative had had hip replacement surgery and problems afterward, we could get money compensation.
I see no reason to give a stranger my personal information and suspect whatever he is selling I would not want.
I am a senior citizen and received all this a.m. @ 9:00 (7/14/14). Indian speaking guy claimed he was calling about compensation for surgery. I have never had surgery in my life. I asked for his name and the company name and telephone # so that I could report him to the FBI. I have already called the FBI and filed an official report and received a Case File # on another company out of Texas who was regularly harassing me - last incident was calling 6 consecutive times in one day re: my computer problems. If anyone know of a law firm who has successfully won a case against harassassing telemarketers please let me know. I am seriously looking to sue the Company in Texas and want to also find out who this company is today who called me about a surgery claim. When I find out who they are, I will file another FBI report and add them to any lawsuit that I file. Chris
516 area code - Long Island, NY. "John Smith" from US Medical Care in NY asked for me by name in a very heavy subcontinental accent. Asked him how Pocahontas was, and hung up on him.
Rec'd a call from a Dr. Smith -- heavily accented Indian man, could barely understand the "United States" when he said United States Medical Group. Said he had info that I had had some 'bladder mesh' surgery (again, it took his repeating the type of surgery several times before I could understand him). Realized he was a scammer from the start, so I wasted a good 15 mins of HIS time...said I had had FIVE such surgeries, he wanted to know the dates...so i left phone 'to look for my records'...fixed myself a snack, came back & said I could only find 2 surgical dates of the 5...'oh, but i have food cooking on my stove...back in a few mins...'...the idiot didn't catch on that I was BSing w/ him & waited...I eventually hung the phone up but he must have thought we got disconnected because he called right back (have caller ID so didn't answer this time). Know from experience that these A-holes will never take us off their lists. The Nat'l DO NOT CALL Registry is meaningless...just wish I had my whistle by the phone...
