Right on Sir Belvedere: Only scammers and crooks will call "Do not call numbers". If you don't recognise the ID number, then do not answer the call. I am on "Do not call list", but I am also on my own "Do not answer". Good policy to follow....!!!!
I look at these scam/spoof/whatever numbers and the common thread on my caller ID if the number is from a city and not a business or person and particularly if I do not know anyone in that area code.
Next thing these creeps will be doing is "Ebola alert in your area". Ok, not much chance of that since there have only been a few confirmed cases of people that were in W. Africa or treated someone who was there.
As the Better Business Bureau says" If unknown, leave it alone". I could care less how many times they call here, I will not answer, be it a robo call or a functional literate person(shortage of that!) They never leave a message. I moved my answering machine to the laundry room, since it is the least used area of the house and pretty much away from the usual living spaces. The beeping messages are pretty much left on there until we clean the machine out.
I just do not know why the government seems to want to police every other part of our life, but could care less about this hot mess aka the Do Not Call list. Why are our elected officials crawling all over this? It would be a clear vote for re-election in my book if changes could be made, even if this person never accomplished a GD thing otherwise.
