I keep getting calls from this company asking for my ex-wife by her new married name. I have been divorced from the woman they ask for for over twenty years. I have explained that to one male caller and gave him the current address of the person he was calling for. I asked that they not call me again, but they continue. Does anyone know how to stop these harassing calls?
Ask them for their mailing address, if they are legit they will give it to you. If you have to, dig it up yourself.
Send them a cease and desist letter through certified mail stating that [the person they are searching for] can no longer be found at [your number] or [your address] and that they are to cease all attempts to contact [your ex wife] via phone and that all future attempts to reach [your ex wife] must be done so through mail.
After you get notice that they recieved your letter, keep it in a file with a copy of the letter. If they call you again, write down the date and time.
Politely inform the person on the phone that they are violating your cease and desist letter that you know they got because you had it sent certified mail, that you are recording the call (and do so), and that if they call you again you will be filing charges of harrassment along with a lawsuit against them.
You can get up to about $1500 per phone call after you send a cease and desist letter.
If you cannot get them to give you their address or find it, contact your phone company and tell them that this company has been harrassing you (make note of every date and time they call so you can give it to the phone company) and ask if they can please block that number.
I have been receiving calls asking for some spanish sur-name.
I have perfect credit. I have repeatedly asked them to stop calling my number.
All you on here making complaints about this company. Come this Monday
morning I intend to call my states Consumer Protection Agency, State Attorney
General's office as well as the better business bureau.
I spoke to my attorney this morning and am meeting her at her office Tuesday afternoon.
I intend to do more than just complain.
On another note, this agency ( American Credit 570-706-8800) after I snapped at them
that I was not and did not know the person whom they were calling for, then tried to sell me
a secured credit card. I', on both the Federal and State do not call lists.

Someone called me from this number, told me I was a free loader for not payng a bill from 2003. I explained it wasnt me, he had the wrong person, the man on the other end completely berated me and called me names. I hung up but tried calling back to speak to a supervisor and got no answer. There has got to be a law against this.
