This is a Debt collector ! They use and brake every law in collections !!!! Company name is American Credit , They are out of Pennsylvania . Many phone calles and very rude reps . as they can record there call you can record yours just tell them that before you say anything ! They call from 1-570-706-8800 but they will not allow you to call back that number ! But this is the number you have to call back to reach them 1-885-207-1892 ! Bad thing is they are not even looking for me but a anthony and i have had my number for 5 years ! called them 4 times between 6:00 and 6:30 pm on Nov. 1st 2011 and guy is very rude and hangs up so at the same number 1-855-207-1892 you may leave a message with there lawer if you select that from there menu . Everone getting calles from this company needs to sue them they will stop there practices or go outta business one . Since they wont stop or listen long enough to remove me I have decided to hire a lawyer out of DC Virginia to handle my case .
If you do owe the bill they are trying to collect on . Get the original account number a company name ! This is a third party collection agency ! They have bought your bad debt at pennys on the dollar ! Check for the statute of limitations for the state the bill is owed ! normally is 3-5 years for most bill's ! If it is past the statute of limitations they can carry you to court if they would like but 98 persent of the time or more it is dismissed ! They can try to make your life stressed ! Do not agree to make payments this starts the whole 7 years over on your credit report which is different than a state statute of limitations . .It allows them to report the account as not paid again if you do not make your next payment and you will have lost all the time that the bad marks have been against you on your credit and you have 7 more years with it showing on your report against you . Plus this is a third party collection and not the original debtor ! You may also tell them ( I have no contract with you ) In which you do not they are not the original debtor ! If they do sue you go to court especially if the bill is past the statute of limitations .!

Look up "collections cease and desist" for an example of a letter. Note: the letter does not eliminate the debt or make it disappear. It does provide a method to eliminate phone calls. The specifics of what those communications will be are better described on this website.
Of course we would all prefer to pay our debts BUT in certain cases companies engage in bad practice. It does no good to receive unending phone calls. Especially when you can't afford electricity or food this month.
I would encourage anyone to pay what is owed but to do so in ways that YOU control. Debt collectors do not work for your best interest. Many third party collectors are VERY unscrupulous.
Never make payment arrangements over the phone.
Never pay what are asserted to be debts owed without documentation in hand.
No offer for payment over the phone is so special that it can't be done via mail with the appropriate documentation. Be suspect of letters as well... make sure you have the actual original account information.
Be able to clearly track the account back to a debt you in fact own.
A debt owed to a collection agency that they have purchased from another collector is a quite different thing than an account due to the original creditor. What debts you decide to pay is up to your conscience but that's the point. It should be about YOUR decisions that YOU make.
Dont these people have other things to do but harass people on a daily basis. I have all my bills current and not willing to pay people I do not know for services I did not use.
