This scam is still alive and well. The person claimed to work for Microsoft Support and my computer was infected and is sending messages out. I played "Dumb User" with him for about 45 minutes and when I told him that my computer was not connected to the internet, he finally hung up. As per the other reports, the phone number does not exist.
Got a call tonight from that number...when I told him that I would check with my own security systems provider and will call them back...he didn't want to leave me their number!!! It did smell like a scam because I have moved to a different province since I bought my computer...so I don't know where they got my number...not through Windows anyway. Thank God for the internet and these messages...when I get a strange number on my telephone's display...I automatically check on the internet and so far...most have been scams!
I received a call from this number today. It was someone from Google lisiting who said for $300 lifetime payment he could get my business to be the number 1 on the google search. He barely spoke English and was very pushy. I tried to get all the information I could about this person. He said his name was Mike Paterson and he was from Tecsouls.com. The other telephone number is 888-301-5788 ext. 2210. The company looks to be real but I would never use them.
It appear they have gone over the border. They just call me in Canada !! The guy with you I speak first had an indian accent on the phone or somewhat, and again said to be a windows help center. His english was so much awful that he transfert me to his "senior tech" to talk about my virus or trouble with my windows system !! No kidding, it is really a scam.
