just received the identical call. Told caller I have many grandsons and tell me your first name. Caller hung up. Got to find a way of getting rid of these kinds of calls. Number is now blocked on my phone
Just received a call from this number. I did not answer and immediately got a call from our local police department saying that an emergency had been called in from our phone and asking if we were ok. I assured them that we were but the police still came to check. If these people know so much about us, why can't we find out about them and end this nonsense!
Got a call from 646-911-0208 said he was oldest grandson. I don't have an oldest grandson over 5 years old. Was sure it was a scam and types phone number in my phone and saw many had received same call! March 4 2016.
Same scam as previous. Said he'd just been to Wisconsin to attend funeral of a friend who'd died of stomach cancer. Described himself as "my oldest grandson." Hung up when I said my oldest grandson was three.
Common grandparent scam. I'm 74 and I get those calls too. Follow BigA's advice. Also, you should got to the police and at least make a report. The police can then alert the community and perhaps the Media. There's not much else anyone can do, given current technology.
Caller was trying to find out if he had a live victim. Many of the grandparent scammers research their victim's personal lives. The scammer called in a request for a welfare check in the guises of being a concered relative. This means that you may be an intended target for one of these scams. Be ware and take care. Do not answer call numbers you do not recognize.
