I had this number appear on my account info 20 times since December (about 2 month). From what others here have said, I think it is a number that shows up from Rogers if someone calls, and you don't answer, telemarketer, friends, family etc. I recently activated my Voicemail, which I didn't know I had that option. I have never received an actual voicemail. It wasn't until I saw these charges on my account that I realised I was being charged for voicemails, but not even getting any voicemails.
I took the advice of others here, and dialed *611, then 3, and continued on the automated Rogers customer helps, to get my Voicemail Canceled. I think it wake option 4 on one of the menus. It asks if you are sure you want to cancel your voicemails and box, then to confirm. I was charged for 20 voicemails calls at .40 cents each, that's $8.00. Not happy. So, now I'm happier with not voicemail, that I don't miss anyway, and now I don't have to worry about getting charged again. I hope that makes sense and helps. Feb. 19, 2014
Just checked my Rogers phone. If you go to the Call Foward function in your menu, this is the phone number you will see. I think you need to turn off the voice mail messaging.
Going to give it a try.
I just went in to a Rogers phone center to be told to cancel voicemail which I don't have or change my number. Totally unhelpful comments. One post suggested calling *611 then pressing 3 which I did. It took me through steps similar to when I add money. It said I had voice mail! I don't! Anyway I had to press 1 to cancel it. So I did. Now I will have to see what happens when this stupid caller calls again.
It shows up on my phone as 1 877 632 6241 but comes up on my online bill information at Rogers as 647 278 9950. 12 calls x 40 cents in less than a week so I lost nearly $5 off my $10 pay-as-you-go card which usually lasts me a month, as it is only an emergency phone. What a pain. Hope this information is of help.
I believe this is a spoof number, because although this is what shows up on my phone record, my phone reports that the actual number calling me is (210)301-0307, which is somewhere in Texas. I think they do it on purpose so people will call them back and get billed for long distance calls (and perhaps other charges). They have called me over 20 times in the last 3 months and each time I get dinged for $0.25, so finally I decided I had enough and removed by voicemail permanently. What a pain in the [***] though!
