Same thing, got a call at 12:am got me out of bed. I said do you know what time it is? He says , yes mam but ths is very important ...etc. I asked for his number and name, James.
I was woken out of bed by this call and unfortunately I fell for it. I became so distraught that I could lose everything I ever wrote during my doctorate degree including the only copy of my final dissertation that I allowed them access and shelled out $111 for the service. What can I do to report this scam, get my money back, etc.???
Thick Indian accent said his name was Kevin. Said they were getting reports of spyware coming from computer. Asked for the call crack number knowing it was a scam and he gave me this number 6617716568.
Got the same call as above, my computer has been hacked. When I asked which company he represented he said "Windows." When I said back "windows"? he said you must have heard of Microsoft. I said yes, I have heard of Microsoft, is that who you work for? He said "yes." I said I had four computers, some belonging to the government and asked do you work on govt. computers? He began to back away at that point. The number is 661-771-6568. I received the same call a week ago, diferent guy. He said there is a problem with Windows and he will help me fix it. I said how do you know. "We received signals from your computer." I said which one? He said which one have I been using. I said I use 4 of them and if he can give me the IP address I could narrow down the one with the problem. He said "we don't use IP addresses" but a computer identifier and asked me what mine is. I said for which computer? I asked him to give the identifier number so I could check. I asked him this several times. He got flustered and said "you shou'dn't be ridiculous." I said I wasn't and if he gave me the identier we could continue. He then called me an "[***]" and hung up.
Unfortunately these scammers got to my Dad. He gave them $606 "for the life time protection of the computer. This protection applicable for unlimited computer. You will be getting back $400 cash back after four month". The 651-771-6568 ph number on the text file. Nice grammer, I added the periods. This was last April, from "technical department of window." Yesterday, we got a call from Frank Watson, at Star Tech Support. must be the same guy in most these calls, heavy accent, bad attitude. He came right out and told me that if my dad didn't wire him $600 asap in order to get an unlock code, Dad wouldn't be able to access his documents. I asked if he was blackmailing my Dad. He said Yes. Said that if we didn't pay, he would turn my Dad's documents over to every hacker in the world. He was very threatening as he said all this. Was very irate when I chuckled. Anyway, we are taking steps with several agencies. This guy needs to go to prison for life.
