I don't think this is a collection agency, it's a scam of some sort. They've called this business daily, asking for an employee who no longer works for the company. Indian accent, always claims "Andrew" told him to call. When I asked to speak to Andrew, his line is busy. I finally told the Indian guy I was calling the local police to file a harassment report. He suddenly was able to take our name and number off the calling list.
If indeed the collector did call her an inappropriate name then she no worries because each and every call is recorded. However, she probably deserved it!
Maybe they had the wrong person, did they verify the last 4 digits of you social security number or your date of birth? If you didn't have a defaulted student loan you shouldn't be scared to confirm that info. Collectors do have to search for these people because they do everything they can to avoid paying their bills. Help them out next time.
Like "tuffguy" said it would be 3rd party disclosure and that against the law. If you had a defaulted loan would you want them to tell everyone your business? I didn't think so. Next time put the person on the phone and let them deal with their own issues.
