Received exact same message, but said sheriff would make arrest. Sheriffs do not enforce federal tax law. IRS agents do. It's BS. Foreign accent didn't help. Fourth grade reader didn't help.
Not possible. These people are hard core Indian and Pakistani scammer/extortionists. They are beyond the reach of US law and the local governments do little or nothing to shut down these call centers. Call blocker can be of some assistance. Also don't pick up on numbers you don't recognize.
Do not return the calls! These people are hard core Indian and Pakistani scammer/extortionists. They become extremely abusive, especially to women, when they find their scams aren't working.
They have a tendency to pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community. And in many cases they have at least some of your personal and financial information.

It's tempting to call them back and cuss them out. I've done it a few times. They just ignore you, maybe cuss you back, but it doesn't really change anything.
The way I see it, nothing short of an air-strike from one our our drone aircraft in the Indian ocean is the only thing that will shut them down. And of course, nobody's going to do that.
Just don't answer numbers you don't recognize. Get a call blocker too.
