Received exact same message, but said sheriff would make arrest. Sheriffs do not enforce federal tax law. IRS agents do. It's BS. Foreign accent didn't help. Fourth grade reader didn't help.
It is amazing to me that people have so much free time they can harass busy people by threating them with arrest by the sheriff because of a warrant that is for tax evasion. There should be a way these call do not reach the intended caller. The recording was a woman with an Indian accent. There is no privacy for anyone. This is a scam.
I got the exact same call from a NJ number, 201-335-2726. Very heavy accents, stating that Jason O'Conner was the criminal lawyer working my case and that I owed money and could be arrested!
