This number called my husband and said he owed 743 in check fraud and deception and when i called back she told me 515 to settle acount. Used his ex wifes email address. I reported to FTC.
I have received numerous calls/voice mails from them. They never give the name of the company and threaten to have me served at my home or work. First of all, all of my bad debt was included in a bankruptcy in 2013 and I have accumulated no bad debt since 2009, all of which was included in the bankruptcy, including a couple of default judgments. I am a paralegal and know that anyone attempting to collect on bad debt must follow federal law regarding same. If this was legitimate, they would clearly identify themselves and have me served in accordance with my state's laws regarding service requirements. I do not know the name of the company, as I stated earlier, they do not identify themselves. They just make threats and leave a number for you to call back. I will do some research and see if I can find out who this company is and once I know, I will be filing a complaint in the Middle District Bankruptcy Court, and Judge Brady can hit them with fines and penalties for violating federal law.
This is the same number that called my moms house looking for me. I have not lived there in 15 or more years! Today they called me from (405) 256-2818 stating the same message! This has happened to me before!
Same message as everyone else. They call from a spoofed local number and then give the 706 number to call back. They can't force you to pay anything without providing paperwork. Total crap scam.
