I came home from work and had a message from this woman stating that I had to call this number and gave me this phone number to call back on. something about being a state and legal problem and I had to use this case number she gave me. Then she said I had to call back before they started legal action. My boss told me if if was legal action, they would contact me by mail and not leave a message on the phone. Apparently this is a scam, so i just didn't call it back. She didn't give a company or even an lawyers name. if it was a legal situation, they would of at least given the name of the lawyer or attorneys office name.
Got a call from a lady who told me she was Detective Smith. She repeated that 3 times. She had the last 4 of my ss#. She wanted me to verify my birth date. I refused. I told her she should have it and I would say yes or no. She then said she was filing paperwork with my county because of my attitude and I can take it up with the judge. I don’t know the name of the company she is from.
Looks like just another debt scammer from Western New York. No one is filing any papers with anyone. Just a scam to scare you into paying them some money. Report them. Also this Smith person is impersonating a police officer. What she's doing is implyng criminal prosecution for a civil debt. This is unlawful under the federal rules regarding debt collection.
Make a complaint to the New York Secretary of State or whatever agency handles debt collectors.

Don't talk to them, don't return their calls and block their number. If they have a valid debt they are supposed to send you a debt validation letter by US Mail. No letter, not consideration of any payment.
If they keep calling you tell them you will file a police report for extortion.

These people are simply pathetic. They call several times a day leaving automated messages saying that Legal Claims have been filed against you and that you have 24 hours to respond or else. Or that they have filed charged in your local county and to give them a call back. At one point and time you may have actually received a payday loan from a legitimate company and paid it back, but these people have a way of getting your information one way or another and trying to scam you out of a debt that you've already paid. Don't believe them and definitely don't pay. They even go as far as calling relatives, its pathetic and they really need to be stopped. Be informed!!!
This outfit also uses ... or used ... 888-407-2067 and goes by OSC LLC .. that number is out of service as of 11/7/14 ... also a sign that this is nothing but a scam outfit. They have since gone to using the name Oracle Group and the number 716-242-5202. If you call them back, immediately inform them that you are giving them legal notice that you are recording the call (even if you aren't) to be used as evidence ... the call wont last long.
Really ... anyone with internet access can tell in a minute that this is a scam outfit.
The internet is a double edged sword... I'm pretty sure that's where they are getting their info .. but it works both ways and we can get theirs to !
Voicemail message states call from 716-242-5202 and that a fraud case had been filed in the county I live in (Shelby County) against my social security number concerning a payday loan (whatever that is!). Provided no name of person on case docket. Gave the investigator's name to call back as JoAnn Smith with the Oracle Group, LLC. The case docket was #1300770-US. Did not call back and do not plan on it. Never took out such a loan so they can file away!
