I was on hold on another call when this # clicked in on call waiting. All it said was New York. I didn't pick it up, but did a search because I thought it might be a business call. This is how I found this site. I am wondering what connection this has with Key Bank. Did Key Bank have information stolen that this person is using?
called 716 838 7271. My account number and full ssn was requested. Jill said this was the "key" new account call center. She connected me to the Washington State "key" call center whose number is 800 539 2968. The person answering the phone directed me to the "Fraud Center" at 800 433 0124 and the key.com web site.
Maybe the thieves just make it so only NEW YORK and the number 716 838 7271 appear on my telephone as the caller ID????

I just received a call from this number on 8/4/08, I didn't answer it and they didn't leave a message. After reading the other posts about this number, I'm glad I didn't answer.
I REC'D A CALL FROM 716-838-7271. HE SAID HIS NAME WAS "JOHN" AND HE WAS MAKING A COURTESY CALL FROM KEY BANK............I TOLD THEM THEY DO NOT CALL FOR INFO. ON THE PHONE. HE SAID "WELL THEY ARE TODAY. I HUNG UP THE PHONE. I CALLED MY LOCAL BRANCH AND THEY DID NOT EVEN REQUEST THE NUMBER THAT CAlled and said the bank does make courtesy calls. they did not seem that interested in reporting the matter. 08.28.08
