I was on hold on another call when this # clicked in on call waiting. All it said was New York. I didn't pick it up, but did a search because I thought it might be a business call. This is how I found this site. I am wondering what connection this has with Key Bank. Did Key Bank have information stolen that this person is using?
This call comes up on our caller ID as Key, Bank of New York. The comma tells me it is not Key Bank of New York. This is deceptive and I am surprised more people haven't noticed it. They also call our home after 9:00 pm New York time. I doubt any banks in NY do business at 9:00 PM. This gives every indication that it is a spam call trying to collect information. There was one post on another website that they said they could take the persons phone number off of their solicitation list but they could only do this if the person gave them their social security number. Huge Red Flag!!
Caller Name: Key, Bank of NY
Caller Type: Scam CallOct 27 2010, 4:00 ama. bradley(United States) called back and got the message "
got a call and missed it...called it back(,it showed up as 'Key' )they asked for my account info to bring it up, I said i did not feel comfortable because I had never seen key bank call from this number. I had already given them my name though.I hung up and called key bank's 800 number and was told my account looked fine and they had no record of such a call or of that number. The rep also told me that she knows certain phone companies allow any name of the customer's choice to show up on people's caller id After reading other people's experiences I am sure these people are scammers.
B-E-W-A-R-E. this is not "Key Bank of NY" but "Key, Bank of NY". They are scammers looking for poor, unsuspecting victims to give up their personal information over the phone. The real Key Bank of NY does not call its clients and ask them for account information. If they call again, just ignore the call or call the authorities.
Got this call from this # today, same as All the others have been getting. Not sure if it is key or not, but we did not answer. My Wife and Daughter have Key accounts, but Neither have anything other than a checking account with them. Sent an email to there fraud center to check on. I also know some cops who I will ask to check into this for me.
I got a call today from what my caller "ID" showed as 'unknown' so I decided not to answer it.
I looked online only to find this long thread saying that it's a fraud Key bank scam. I have never dealt with key bank & am glad to have caller ID on my phone.Unless I know who is calling: I refuse to answer the phone.
