Ichy is correct - NEVER ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS - EVER!
THESE ARE CRIMINALS THAT ARE CALLING YOU!!!
NEVER CALL THE NUMBER BACK AND NEVER "PRESS ONE TO BE REMOVED!"
IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE FOLKS!!!
We have the Di*it**e call blocker on all our phone lines.
The Di*it**e is unique in that we can block entire area codes as well as full telephone numbers.
Currently, we have over 210 area codes blocked.
This number has never called us before but because we have the ENTIRE 720 AREA CODE BLOCKED, no matter what number they call from, THEIR CALLS CANNOT RING THROUGH!
OUR PHONES DO NOT RING AND OUR HOME IS NOT DISTURBED BY THEIR CALLS!
Please purchase a call blocking phone or device - they work and they are inexpensive
Sorry, but I have to disagree with the tactic of not answering - these folks just keep changing numbers and dancing around the National Do-Not-Call Registry. If you really are sick of your phone ringing with telemarketers, we have to fight back. I like to see how long I can keep them on the phone by feigning interest and giving them completely bogus info. I find that it helps to write down any numbers/info that you feed them so you can spit them back if asked. I find that recently they hang up almost immediately after I engage them - this tells me that enough folks are punking them that they are becoming paranoid. When they start hanging up on actual potential customers thinking they are being played with, it won't be long before their business dries up and blows away. Keep up the good work, folks!
These scum are slimy enough to keep changing numbers to get around call blockers. Our Government is too busy fighting itself to offer any help. The only thing that will ultimately work at this point is for enough of us to punk them so that they don't know when they are talking to a real sucker or just another Punker. I like to make a sport out of it, seeing how long I can keep them on the line by engaging them with questions and giving (slooooowly...) any info that they request. Of course, all of the info is bogus and written down so I can read it back when asked. I find that bogus CC numbers with 3's and/or 8's work well, so that when the number comes up invalid, you can read it back flipping a 3 for 8 (or vice versa - darn, where are my glasses...?).
The last time they called me, they hung up almost immediately when I expressed interest - this tells me that they are getting paranoid about being punked and that it won't be long before they are hanging up on potential "customers". Their businesses should fold not long after that...
The scamming butt-wipes from "Card Member Service" or whatever generic name they call themselves. "Carmen" needs her head to be ventilated. Their system doesn't even wait to hear a voice. It immediately triggers when you simply pick up the phone. I keep blocking their numbers but the scam artists are criminals who keep spoofing new numbers. These particular idiots are more aggressive than most and seem to be spoofing a new number at least once a week.
Caller using this phone # called my cell phone this morning. Blocked as the # is not found in my contact list. From reading recent comments I am so disappointed I missed the call.... </sarc>
Whether you decide to not answer or to answer, no matter what you decide and what you do, these calls are all automated dialing so they are going to keep calling and calling. It takes nothing for these f****** as*****s to set up a system that just runs numbers and dials. The reason the "Do Not Call" list doesn't work is because these idiots are all a bunch of phonies trying to rip us off and do not pay attention to any list except "Let's See If This One Bites" list. The only thing to do is decide to deal with it however you feel is best for you. When I'm in the mood I pick up and just play with them. At least I get some satisfaction of giving them a hard time. Like when they called with all the correct information to tell me my computer had a virus and I told them I did not own a computer and never did. I could hear the idiot's bewilderment right through the phone.
