A police society call to the best of my knowledge, but with a different twist. This one sounded like a real person, but when I said I had just been in the hospital it replied, "Glad to hear the good news. I'm pleased to hear it!!!" It appears they've got new software, but it doesn't seem to be working so well. I hung up as I can't stand all of these people calling up begging for money through my credit card which nobody should ever give out over the phone unless you initiate the call and you know exactly who you are speaking to.
Ignore these calls. Even if this is a legitimate telemarketing agency (and I don't believe it is), the groups they're sponsering sometimes only receive 10% or less of the donations. If you want to give to an organization, go directly to them and ask for their recommendation. Never give unless you know the percentage that is actually going to the agency and are okay with that.
