I got a missed call on my cell phone from this number today. I didn't know who it was so I decided to search for the number online. After reading some of postings above, I think I figured it out. I bought a new phone from T-Mobile yesterday and I was told that I may be contacted by their office for a customer service survey. It is supposed to be something that they do randomly to ensure that their sales associates are doing their best.
They wanted the person who makes the decision about the phone system. I asked to be put on their Do Not Call List and they tried to handle my request as a "sales objection" by telling me they weren't trying to sell me anything. I had to hang up.
Called at exactly 6 PM (11/26/2008) but calls from 801 in past have usually been westernwats.com with a survey, so I didn't answer. By the way, I didn't recently buy T-mobile; I have been with Verizon for 2 years. I suspect this is a survey organization that hires out to many firms, including SunTrust (they have called in the past wanting to ask questions about my recently opened SunTrust account).
Received two calls in last two weeks from this number. When I answered no one was there. One other time they left an unintelligible message on my answering machine
