A legitimate debt collection company would not hang up on you for requesting an address. There's no such thing as a restraining order involving a debt. It is against the law to threaten you, as this employee did. Verify that you really have an unpaid debt by contacting Bank of America AND checking your credit reports from the three credit reporting companies (in case there's erroneous info on them that needs to be corrected). Also, check the statute of limitations for debts in your state; you're already more than 7 years past the alleged unpaid debt. It's possible that your state has laws to get a debt that old expunged from your records -- and that's assuming you really did owe it in the first place. If, indeed, the claims about a 2003 debt are false, or if they're trying to coerce you into paying a debt that's past the statute of limitations for your state, it's in your best interests to file a report against Litigation Support Services with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
I had also gotten a message from these people a few months back. they threatened to sue me for fraud over an unpaid credit card. I did set up payments with them, but I told them I don't have a bank account. They said they would take moneygram payments. When the time came for me to send the first payment I called and they wanted me to send the moneygram to an individual in Ohio. They claimed she was a court mediator. This is now how these things are handled. You don't send a moneygram to an individual to pay a debt. I did not send the payment and here it is about 2 months or so later and they have called me at work and are now saying they're going to sue me over a bounced check. I may have some unpaid bills but I am certain I have no bounced checks. They are full of crap and this is a complete scam. I will be contacting my attorney general's office over this and I suggest you do the same. DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE!
I feel this company needs to be investigated. I believe they are scamming individuals and attempting to get money from them. Please be leary of the credabilty of this company. They call and claim there is a restraining order and ask you to call 804-767-4880.
I was contacted by this company by a helen davis she said i had 24-48 hrs to respond either me or my attorney so i called spoke to janette olsen which is probaly a fake name she told me about a past due credit card i laughed really FRAUD are you serious...these guys arent nothing but desperate debt collectors working to get a check like everybody else...I mean i get it these people work off comission so they use scare tactics to get you to pay....I spoke to my attorney because I am filing Bankruptcy he called and handled it.. My mom relayed a mesg to me from a Jennifer Wilson, she also let me hear the voicemail (not professional at all) I was also told that I have a restraining order against me for a payday loan I took out in 2008 they used my maiden name, I asked who it was with and they said Edollars also associated with SallieMae when I googled it this came up: http://go.salliemae.com/sosl_int_stu001/?dtd_cell=IQGO09IQID8681568. there is no contact number to call for assistance, they also gave me a number to call 888-729-1329 The gentlemen I spoke with I'm Robert (with Pay1day loan company in the collections dept, advised me that there has been a lot of fraud going around with diff online payday loan companies and to be ware also not to give any of my info out or make any payment arrangements. I will be calling a lawyer to look into this. This is nothing to play around with, I have no idea who these people are
